J. Stephen Beam is an author and storyteller with two published books to his credit, The Death Letter, released in the summer of 2023, and The Bondage of Innocents, due to be released in the summer of 2024. His literary style is a genre-bending mystery/suspense featuring a spate of romantic relationships. His principal aim is the exploration of relationships and their disruptions leading to the challenges and heartbreaks that ensue. The first novel explores illicit drug manufacturing and trafficking; the second focuses on human trafficking; the third, well underway, will revolve around sexual abuse and its ramifications.
Beam is a former high school science teacher and retired physician. He holds degrees from The University of Mississippi and The University of Southern Mississippi along with a medical degree from The University of Mississippi Medical Center. He lives in Sumrall, Mississippi, with his wife, Dawn Beam, a Justice on the Mississippi Supreme Court. The couple has five children and two grandchildren.
He is available for — and thoroughly enjoys — appearances with book clubs, libraries, historical societies, and gatherings of any size to discuss his writings and his drive to create.
